Why the Mutual Exclusivity? Nicole Chakraborty


In many ways Internationalists seem to have a very convincing argument for peace, which at a first glance looks obvious. The idea that having forums and rules for open dialogue “could be a powerful force for stability” logically makes sense. But at the same time when you look at a Realist’s thoughts on international political institutions as being “a reflection of the distribution of power in the world” and an arena for states to play out their own selfish interests the Internationalist belief in stability and peace seem less appealing.
